Beatallica

Prepare to loose you mind. What Dread Zepplin did to Elvis and Led Zepplin, Beatallica is doing for the Beatles and Metallica. You can get a review and hear samples at allmusic.com. I can just imagine the oddity that their stage show would have to be to live up to a name and concept like this.

Hey, cool, a new album is out. But I gotta pay for it?? I remember a few years back when these guys were first starting out... their identities were a secret and the music was only available for free via P2P networks b/c they didn't want to get sued. I also remember that they finally lawyered up and were able to keep their web site up and even start to sell T-shirts/mugs/etc. So this is interesting that they've gotten to the point where they can sell the CDs through legit outlets. Pretty cool.

I just checked the track listing for the new album and I see that it contains some new tracks and lots of old tracks... and, interestingly, their prior two (underground) albums are not available. I'll have to hook you up with the originals sometime. And the fan-made artwork for the two underground albums is great!

On a slightly related note, but a little different... a Mash-Up compilation album just came out (and it's free) that's a tribute to Iron Maiden. Check it out here: http://www.mashuptown.com/2007/07/new-album-relas.html
